New pedestrianised street opens in Ha Noi
VGP – Ha Noi’s second pedestrian street near West Lake opens from Friday evening through Sunday to offer additional entertainment to residents and visitors, according to Tay Ho district People’s Committee.

The pedestrian street run from 19h30 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and run until the end of 2018. After that, Tay Ho district People Committee will decide to expand or narrow its scale.
Trinh Cong Son walking street runs from Alley 612 off Lac Long Quan street to the Au Co T-junction. The street, named after Trinh Cong Son, one of Vietnam’s greatest songwriters, is designed to be a venue of art displays, performances of traditional and contemporary art genres, and folk games.
A stage for performances of Trinh Cong Son’s music will be a distinctive feature of the walking street. 60 kiosks, modelled after ancient houses of Ha Noi and Hoi An, will sell souvenirs and food from many parts of Viet Nam.
Visitors can enjoy Phu Thuong steamed glutinous rice, West Lake shrimp cakes, rice vermicelli with snails, lotus sweet soup, and other Ha Noi specialties. Handicraft products of villages around Ha Noi will be on sale.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the second pedestrian route of Hanoi aims to attract more visitors by offering new cultural, art and entertainment spaces.
The first pedestrian space of Ha Noi is streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, which are popular destinations for Hanoians and tourists.
Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001) was one of the greatest songwriters of modern Viet Nam. He composed an estimated 600 songs, of which most are love songs. Son was also known as an amateur poet and painter.
It is expected to be the second model in Ha Noi, creating more entertainment space for the public.
